Cannelle makes glittery electronic pop built for a club, moving between French and English. Born in Marseille and raised in Aix-en-Provence on her dad's records and her older sisters' taste, she is now based in LA, and her debut mixtape Cinna landed in June. Start with "Clover," then "BB Blue."
The thing about Cannelle is that she had a whole world before she had songs. The pastel teal hair, the washed out pink and purple sunsets, the maximalist accessories: all of it built her a cult following on Tumblr years before she released anything. North West has taken cues from the look, and Vaquera and Anna Bolina have borrowed it. She still runs a spam account with posts going back to 2020.
Then the music caught up. "Lucky" arrived in May 2024, followed by ten singles across two years, and Cinna in June. She co-produced the mixtape with Oscar Scheller, Océane, Chicken, Glasear, and Warpstr, designed the artwork herself, and hid screenshots from her favorite films inside it. She has said she is "more interested in what happens between genres and languages" than in electronic pop as a fixed category.
Live, she has toured with Ninajirachi and sold out Market Hotel in Bushwick. At her first Paris show she handed out wigs to the crowd so everyone matched her hair.
