Who is Andrew Aged?

Andrew Aged has made his way into the spotlight with his recent singles and upcoming project ‘Crown’ to be released December 3rd, but he’s been in the music industry for a while, moving quietly. Raised in Monterey, California, when Andrew was eleven years old, he saw a guitar store across from the baseball field where he played, and it's been history ever since. Some local acts in Monterey first inspired him, but he really found what suits him when he started to explore the world of Gospel/R&B. Don’t be fooled, though; he is constantly evolving his craft. Aged would go on to study jazz and improvisation at USC, which we’ve seen become a prevalent essence in his present works.

Early Days

Andrew Aged began to release music in 2011 under the name Inc. No World, which is a duo formed by him and his brother Daniel Aged. The duo had a string of releases from 2011-2013, their most notable being their album ‘No World’ (2013). The early beginnings of their overall sound is moody, scaled-back R&B, reminiscent of Prince, with a gospel undertone. It wouldn’t be surprising if the Aged brothers have written or produced for one of your favorite artists. The two of them have an array of credits, with Andrew writing and producing for the likes of Lorde, FKA Twigs, Brent Faiyaz, and Blood Orange. His brother Daniel has also done writing for FKA Twigs, even for Frank Ocean on tracks such as “Dear April’ ‘Cayendo’ and ‘DHL’.

Early Collabs

Andrew  gained new eyes with his skills as a guitarist when he became a member of Mk.gee’s touring band in 2024 for the ‘Two Star & the Dream Police’ spring and fall tours and would continue to join him in 2025 for his festival dates, becoming an integral part of Mk.gee’s live sound. It’s easy to see how they mesh musically, with both taking inspiration from R&B sounds, both having similar musical origins with Mk.gee also studying classical jazz at USC. When you see Aged on stage with Mk.gee and Zack Sekoff (Mk.gee’s touring drummer), they’re vibrant and alive in each other's presence, an unstoppable creative force. Post spring tour, Mk.gee released ‘Lonely Fight’ with Aged being credited, the two cementing their creative affinity.

All of Andrew Aged’s musical endeavors culminated in his first solo release on November 18th, a debut consisting of three singles. The release was accompanied by a visual for Banner shot by Mk.gee, which was co-written and produced by him as well. Aged’s three singles have a dreamy and jagged soundscape, guitar-driven with delicate vocals. With lyrics like “I gave up my rights when I knew you gave your life for me”, on Heights, there’s clear holy imagery woven into the fabric of Aged’s musical identity. It feels as though a sonic heavenly world of his own is being created. And it’s expanding, with the prompt announcement of a new single titled Emmaus shortly after his initial singles. His debut album: crown, drops December 3rd. If you’re a lover of alternative r&b, your eyes and ears should definitely be on Andrew Aged as his solo debut rollout continues.
