Current Joys, the project of Nick Rattigan, has announced a new album called Rosebud, out November 6. Lead single "Hole" is out now, and it is the first record he is self-releasing after years on Secretly Canadian.
It started as something completely different. Rattigan wrote thirty minutes of slowcore songs he could barely stand to listen to. Then a session with matt proxy put him in a room with producer Never Goodbye, and together they tore those songs apart and rebuilt them around distortion, screams, and nu metal energy.
The announcement lands in a strange year for his back catalog. "Kids" and "Televisions" both went viral again this year through the horror movie Obsession, eleven years after "Kids" first blew up.
